Stop 1: Tjapukai, Fruit and Indigenous tropical jams and Damper

Hi my name is Brett and I'd like to tell you about my new tasting adventure. I'll pick you up at your accommodation at a civilised 9am and head down 'The Great Barrier Reef Drive' to our first stop - Morning tea at Tjapukai (which means 'Rainforest') Aboriginal cultural park, for hot baked damper and a chance to sample indigenous tropical jams.

Stop 2: De Bruey’s Winery

We then head up the Kuranda Range to De Brueys Boutique Wines, sip deliciously different tropical fruit wines, liqueurs and Ports whilst overlooking the beautiful surrounds of  waterfall ,terraces and lake.

Stop 3: Mount Uncle Distillery

10 minutes down the road we arrive at Mount Uncle distillery, North Queensland's first and only distillery. Here we stop for a delicious fresh lunch of local produce and a tasting of 2 of their new boutique beers, then off to the distillery to taste some of their award winning liqueurs and spirits, then take a wander round this stunning property nestled in coffee and banana plantations, with beautiful gardens, friendly animals.

Stop 4 : Gallo Dairyland

We now head towards the historic village of Atherton. Driving through this thriving hub a patchwork of amazing farmland and rolling green hills appear before us. We are on our way to a fully operational dairy farm spread across 1000 acres of rich red volcanic soil with a gourmet cheese factory.

Here we will taste a selection of their delicious cheeses whilst gazing out over the picturesque landscape. Meet some friendly animals before heading back to Mareeba through a variety of diverse crops.

Stop 5 : Jaques Family Coffee Plantation

Next stop is to Jaques Family coffee plantation-the 3rd generation; with 85,000 Arabica Coffee trees growing in the rich soils they produce a smooth and vibrant flavour unique only to the remarkable location.Relax in the air-conditioned theatre to watch the fascinating history of the Jaques Family and also an enchanting insight in to the finer details of coffee from the tree to the cup.We stroll through the gardens and finish our stop with a delicious cup of Jaques coffee made 'just as you like it'

Stop 6 : Platypus Hut - Queensland wine and beers and Macadamia nut Dukha

And if that is not enough, we head across  the savannah 'Outback' ,past giant termite mounds and classic red dirt to a unique 160 acre Private Property.

Here you can soak up the stunning rainforest and pristine environment which is a sanctuary for bird and animal species. Watch out for a passing Kangaroo and head down to 'The Platypus Hut' where you can sit in this tranquil setting as the sun goes down and watch for dive bombing Kingfishers and the elusive Platypus (or dip your toes into the most beautiful mountain stream) whilst sipping Queensland wines and beer and a taste of local Macadamia nut Dukha..

We then head down the Julatten range and I will drop you back to your accommodation at 5.30pm.

New Foodie Stop For Brett's Outback Tours

New Foodie Stop For Brett's Outback Tours

By Brett's Outback Tasting Adventures from Port Douglas

06 Oct 2017

A new partnership between Skybury Coffee and Brett’s Outback Tasting Adventure is set to offer joy to foodies who combine their passion with wanderlust.
Skybury business development manager Paul Fagg said Brett’s Outback Tasting Adventure tour would visit Skybury Tropical Plantation four days a week, bringing locals and domestic and international visitors from Port Douglas to experience world-class export produce right where it is grown.

Skybury Tropical Plantation, 10 minutes west of Mareeba on the Atherton Tablelands, is a family-owned plantation, home to Skybury Coffee and Papaya, and a first-rate on farm visitor experience, the Skybury Café and Roastery.
“We are delighted to partner with Port Douglas-based Brett and Andrea Cameron to share our beautiful part of the world and our unique farm-fresh produce with people who enjoy the simple pleasures of real food,” Mr Fagg said.
“Our produce is sent all over Australia and overseas, and it is great to give visitors the opportunity to learn more about  our passion for coffee and papaya and discover the rich diversity of the Atherton Tablelands.”

Brett and Andrea Cameron have seen their business go from strength to strength since starting Brett’s Outback Tasting Adventure three years ago.
“We have found there is so much interest in the tasting tours. It’s a good day out, satisfying and fun,” Mr Cameron said.

“The Atherton Tablelands are a wonderland with cheese, wine, chocolate, tropical fruit and vegies, locally distilled spirits – and now Skybury Coffee. There is something for every interest and palate.
“Locals enjoy discovering the foodie treats in their backyard just as much as tourists from the other side of the world

“We found people were driving to Port Douglas from Cairns for  our tour, so we added the Cairns Food and Wine Tour (www.cairnsfoodwinetours.com.au) that starts and ends in Cairns.”
