Laserfun is looking to crown Cairns' top lasertag player. On a Saturday 23 March 2019 (6:30 pm - 8:30 pm) we welcome you to Frontline, a night of lasertag with the best that Cairns has to offer. At the end of the night, there will be one winner, Cairns' top player.
Entry is recommended for people who are ranked level 4 or above at any Laserforce venue worldwide. Any players lower than level 4 will be logged into games at level 4 to maintain game balance.

How the tournament will work
Players will compete across a range of game modes, including:
Stun, Stun, Deactivate

Shadows
Highlander
Gladiator
All players will play in all games, with their score accumulated over the course of the tournament. Players' rankings on cumulative score will qualify them for a headstart in the final game, where the tournament winner will be determined. Please note that past Frontline winners will not qualify for a headstart in the final match regardless of their cumulative score.
Note: Entries are capped at 60 players. Players with memberships at other Laserforce venues will play at the level corresponding to their highest ranked membership, but will need a Laserfun membership to compete.

Cairns lands Queensland’s first ever permanent VR arcade

TAKE a guided tour through the Egyptian pyramids, swim with a humpback whale, or blast away zombies at a new arcade that is opening in Cairns.Laserfun at DFO in Westcourt is preparing to launch Queensland’s first ever permanent virtual reality (VR) arcade, featuring a state-of-the-art HTC Vive system and high-end MSI gaming computer.
The system features VR goggles, handheld controllers, and a vast array of different virtual experiences.
Users can book the arcade for hour-long periods, for individual or group activities. Laserfun owner Brad McCulloch said there was nothing like the system, which would be a permanent fixture of the entertainment centre, in the state.
The VR experiences range from educational tours of ancient Egypt, a soaring view of the Solar System, through to incredibly detailed games such as a zombie shoot ‘em up, a space pirate training program, and even underwater encounters with marine animals including giant whales and jellyfish.
For the not-too-faint of heart, there is even a ‘conquer your fears’ program, where users who usually fret about extreme heights are encourage to stand on the edge of tall buildings and cliffs.
“We want to have experiences that are suitable for all ages, even games that are wheelchair accessible,” Mr McCulloch said.
“That’s the great thing about VR — there is just so much you can do with it.”
